I have been involved in medical imaging and this seemed like a logical extension. It uses concepts that are common to images done outside the light spectrum where problems like image noise and motion must be managed and post processing is frequent. Pretty strong understanding of optics but pretty weak at computer skills.
I enjoy almost anything that moves but the go fast thrill seeking days are behind me. The slower pace of retirement is allowing a switch from power boat to sailing for example.
