I am a climbing arborist living in the eastern United States. I have had a love for astronomy since I was a child. My father and I used to belong to a local astronomy club. We would go to star parties and view the stars using my 10' dobsonian and his celestron sct. Some of our favorite night sky objects were the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades Star Cluster and most importantly the Andromeda Galaxy. We would look up at Andromeda and wonder who might be looking back. Astronomy has always been a big part of my life and I cherish all the nights I have been under the stars.
Astronomy provided many opportunities when I was young to learn and grow. I was mentored by a scientist at NASA Langley while in high school. I also belonged to the NASA Aerospace Ambassadors. We would travel to local museums to give talks on the Hubble telescope and the JWST which was still in its infancy in the early 2000's. I once gave a live talk during the final servicing mission of the Hubble space telescope at a local air and space museum. I continue to learn new things today and revel in the stellar exploration that I am able to do in my very own backyard.
I put astronomy on hold while I went to college. I strayed from the stars but never forgot them. I love the natural world and couldn't resist finding both a degree and career path that let me continue to stay outside and experience our beautiful planet. For years I dreamed of getting back into astronomy as well as take up astrophotography which is something that my father and I always dreamed of doing. I now spend my days outside climbing trees with a rope and spend my nights climbing the heavens through a telescope.
I hope to share what I have learned with my children and inspire them to think big and dream of all the possibilities that lie in wait in this beautiful existence. It is a wonderful gift to be able to show the universe in such detail to them.
I lost my father to early onset Alzheimers in 2020. Everything I now do in astrophotography is for him and for my children.
