I have been doing photography for many years; I started with film cameras and wedding photography. After a few years break, I got back into digital photography in about 2013 with a Cano 60D and a few lens' (all bought on eBay). I eventually purchased a reflector telescope and got into Astronomy and star gazing. Later I purchased equipment to connect my camera to the telescope. I later joined slooh.com (2015) and started using their telescopes to image the sky (one of my best accomplishments being the comet Lovejoy, of which I researched, planned, and setup the session on their telescope located in the Canary Islands). Did this for a year or so and then broke away again.

The solar eclipse of 2017 (Aug. 21, 2017) brought me back into full swing. My son and I drove to Independence, OR and we imaged the event from start to finish. A solar eclipse is an experience that needs to be experienced in person, the atmospheric light is totally different than normal and is breathtaking and exciting.

I created my website and my business View the Sky. I travel the stat of California for interesting landscapes and land structures. I also live in a particular location where the bad air quality produces the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, I have many hundred sunset and sunrise photos (my craft continues to improve over time). I put these photos on Instagram, Facebook, and my website.

I started learning Astrophotography towards the end of 2018, playing with start trails and I started viewing YouTube. I learned allot the from various producers, but none more than Nico Carver and nebulaphotos. I have learned allot from him and continue to build on my craft.

My username here popperastrophotographer was created because I don't have thousands (or tens of thousands) of dollars to spend on equipment. I still rely on eBay and get older equipment or inferior equipment and try to make due. I do have a tracker (purchased in 2019) that I constantly overload because I can't afford a heavier mount. I do the best with what I have and have asperations of maybe getting something better (not holding my breath). Money is tight and I am not rich.
