Description

The northwest region of the nearly full (99% illuminated) Moon from crater Pythagorus at the top to Sinus Iridium and crater Plato at the bottom are featured in this long focal length image captured the evening of September 19, 2021 (September 20th in UTC).  Pythagorus has a more favorable perspective (allowing us to view the floor of the crater and its central peak) due to libration of the Moon.

Imaged with a C8 Evo, ZWO ADC, Baader 685nm IR pass filter, and ZWO ASI174MM. Imaging train was configured to give ~F/20 (~0.18 arcsec/pixel). Image capture using Firecapture with gain set at 250 and an exposure of 30 ms. Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of 1000 frames). Mosaic generated from 8 panels using Microsoft Image Explorer. Wavelet sharpening and histogram adjustment in Registax6.
