Description

M31 can be observed by the naked eye, so it is not possible to determine "who" discovered it. It seems that  around 964, the Persian astronomer Abd al-Rahman al-Sufi was the first to formally describe the Andromeda Galaxy. Only in the 1920ties the real nature of this "nebula" was understood. It is commonly admitted that this galaxy will impact our galaxy in a far future.

A quick shot (39x80s) with the Fuji XT30 and the Leitz Telyt 180mm at f/3.4. Not possible to get the Ha regions with this OSC camera. But still I am impressed about the detail you can get at this focal length (the picture was downsampled by a factor 2). This old lens is still beautiful.
