Description

The image was shot during the last nights of the month of Ramadan. I traveled 500km from Cairo to the White Desert for a 3 night dark sky adventure. We headed with a 4x4 truck deeper into the deser seaking the darkest of skies, but also one of the most stunning rock/dune formations known as "Makhroum" meaning the holed out (its a rock face with literally a large hole penetrating it).
The start of the night was dedicated to capturing a tracked winter milky way panorama, that was shared a few days ago in the group. Later, I began setting up for this image, shooting the panorama for the foreground first. Then I setup my camera on the tracker, and waited for the Milky Way to rise. Imaging at such a dark site, with no light pollution over the horizin, makes one appreciate the airglow effect that much more.
