Galacy NGC4216 with Supernova SN2024gy

See full resolution image at:

On January 4, 2024, Koichi Itagaki, a renowned supernova discoverer, identified a new transient in NGC4216 in Virgo. Confirmed as SN2024gy, it is a type Ia supernova - a thermonuclear explosion of a white dwarf star. NGC 4216 is a metal-rich intermediate spiral galaxy located not far from the center of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies, roughly 55 million light-years away. It is seen nearly edge-on.

This RGB image is just 30, 60s light frames.  I wasn't going for a long integration time, pretty picture.  I was just trying to capture the supernova.
