Rho Ophiuchi is a stellar nursery that lies about 400 light years from us.
It is an Iconic Astro Photography target I wanted to capture in high resolution for a long time.So, on a family trip to Kruger Park in South Africa, I took my beloved Televue TV-76 to capture it under those inky dark skies.
The image was planned with a combination of
telescopius and
NINA, with I used for my image accusation.
I processed the image in Pixinsight with the fantastic GHS tool for stretching excellent AI tools from
@Russell Croman . The new GraXpert gradient removal tool worked well on the mosaic's individual panel images. PhotometricMosaic did a fantastic job stitching the panel together.
I am thrilled with how it turned out. The detail is fantastic, especially at full resolution. If you look at IC 4605, you can clearly see the detail in the nebula, which is typically only visible in images with far bigger apertures, i am really impressed how well the TV-76 performs under a dark sky.
