Description

I don't have big experience in astrophotography and didn't take too many photos, but nothing took me as long as this picture. It's a 3rd version (not revision!) that means I spent all night on another session each time. The 1st version is here , so you can compare it with the current one. 2nd version will not appear here at all

Well, I learn my ASI 2600MC-Pro camera while still having some experience obtained with a modified Canon 6D. I can say - they are not the same, definitely not! You can see in the previous picture that stars and cores of galaxies are saturated, while the whole picture is dark. 180 sec subframes taken with gain 100 cannot give anything else. Second approach (18th April, one day before the last session) was better: only 60 sec subs, but still gain 100 and still saturated. Knowing about an advantage of gain 0 and 50K full-well I took the risk ready for a higher read noise. But finally it is ok and the third version is nowhere saturated, no stars nor cores of galaxies are burned out. The picture is quite bright and detailed, the stars are quite round, but not pinpoint...

It's another problem, I followed tutorials on YT regarding backlash adjustment and all about the CGX tuning. At this moment I'm happy that my stars are round and not in the shape of 45* angled baguette. The RMS  last night was around 1.5", but I can promise that it will be lower, much lower. I'm not sure whether the blame is on the side of the mount or of the platform I use...
