Description

This cluster is not often photographed, probably because it is located right next to Veil - and it is not particularly attractive. NGC 6940 is an open cluster located in the constellation Vulpecula. It was discovered by William Herschel on July 17, 1784. It is located approx. 2.5 thousand light years away from Earth.
