Description

Inspired by the recent heat-map from @Salvatore Iovene showing just how seldom the deep southern sky is imaged on Astrobin, I've started a project to photograph all of the significant objects (NGC, IC and others) south of 80 degrees. Fortunately, there aren't too many!

NGC2573A+B are a pair of closely interacting galaxies only one degree from the celestial south pole. At 15th magnitude and only about 1 arc-minute across or less, they're pretty difficult targets with a 4" scope. Nonetheless, interesting structure can be observed, including matter streaming from NGC2573A, and the bright blue, badly distorted arms of NGC2573B.

I believe this is also a First on Astrobin object!
