Description

NGC 2903  is an isolated barred spiral field galaxy, located in Leo and about 30 M light years from Earth. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1784. Herschel catalogued it as a double nebula, which remained the description until the nineteenth century when the third Earl of Rosse resolved its spiral structure [1].

The image was taken over four nights in late March, when I was trying to get the RC to perform properly; despite the oval stars I like the galaxy and so am posting it.
