Finally got this one done, but its been elusive to me for while. My daughter who loves cats has been after me for a while to capture it and I wanted to do a good job on it. The smoke from Canada seems to only be an issue when I have a moonless clear sky. Those nights the smoke keeps kicking up. I finally capture this under bortle 2 skies and then I messed up my flats. I shot this in mid July and just got around to processing the image. I had rotated my camera for a different target so re-taking flats wasn't possible. Fortunately the dust circles didn't totally obscure my targets, I had taken Lobster Nebula in the same frame but it was ruined by the black dust circles. This image was shot with a one shot color camera, an AsI295 but the Optolong L-extreme did an amazing job allowing me to separate the gasses and attempt a HHO or Hubble palette. I'm not sure I was able to match the colors up as well as someone would with a monochrome and a filter wheel but I spent 2-days adjusting the colors. The details that Came out of this amazed me, I had to scale them back quite a bit to bring out the cat paw to stand out. I am pleased with this one but I'll likely reshoot it next year to get Lobster then the same frame. I'll definitely be printing this one for my wall and proudly displaying it although my daughter says she is going to snag it for her wall so I might just send it off for 2 prints and maybe even get it poster size. I'll send this one in to be considered by Astrobin as a daily image. Fingers crossed.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
