Description

At last summer has arrived here and we have had several clear nights on the run which has enabled me to capture this image even with the short summer nights.
There are many widefield images of the whole veil complex but I have always been drawn to the western portion, perhaps because of the bright star 52 Cygni. The whole complex is the remant of a past supernova explosion "The source supernova was a star 20 times more massive than the Sun which exploded between 10,000 and 20,000 years ago. At the time of explosion, the supernova would have appeared brighter than Venus in the sky, and visible in daytime." (Wikipedia)

An interesting observation from the image is you can see that there are more stars to the east (bottom), this is due to the shockwave from the supernova clearing obscuring gas and dust.

Hope you like it, CS Rob
