Description

Actually nothing breathtaking, I merely tested the new Uranus-C (IMX585) camera through haze and a few cloud gaps. Not the finest test condition, but I couldn't wait. The target was Thor's Helmet, NGC 2359, a small emission nebula in Canis Major, not too difficult but also not that easy to capture.

As this was a first time attempt I simply used the Live Stack function of SharpCap4 Pro. In total I could stack 33 frames, exposed 60 sec each at gain 300. Then, effortlessly processed the raw stack FITS file in Siril, Starnet and Photoshop CS2. Passing clouds are responsible for "walking" background noise, but else quite satisfactory for half an hour live stacking integration with only little post-tuning.

Setup: TS-71SDQ Ø71mm/450mm quadruplet with LPR II filter, extension tube, Uranus-C (IMX585) camera with 1.25" nose piece, auto-guided. A detailed report has been added to the PDF brochure from page 32:

Just for reference, revision B is an attempt with a Samyang 135mm at f/2, 16 x 60 sec, gain 300. The halos around stars are due to haze and a wide open fast lens. Target objects are the Flaming Star nebula IC 405 and the Tadpole nebula IC 410, both gems in Auriga.
