This one is definitely worth seeing in full resolution. Just incredible what technology is available to do this is my back yard. 

This version of Andromeda is hard to even compare to last year except the color scheme. I used HDR to combined my 120 s and 10 sec luminance data binned at 1x1 with the 294 MM.  I also used the  4 min OSC color images along with 5 min Ha both at 2x2 binning. I really liked the color scheme for last year, so I blended last year's and this year's color data.

The Andromeda Galaxy is our closest large spiral galaxy in the local group. One of my favorite things to do at night from my backyard is to look up and see the galaxy with my own naked eyes. Using averted gaze to see the central point and two spindles about 2x width of the full moon is always incredible. The galaxy is 2.5 million light years from earth and measures 140,000 light years across. Because of the proximity we can see the Hydrogen Alpha regions and large clouds like NGC 206 along with globular clusters. 

After a fair bit of contemplation and seeing Michael Feigenbaum and Gary Imm's images with the ASI 294 MM Pro, I decided that it would probably be the best long term astrocamera for my set ups. Boy, it did not disappoint!!!

The Larger 4.63 um 2x2 binned pixel size matches the frame identically to my ASI 294 MC  and without any cropping or adjusting compared to my work horse ASI 1600 MM Pro. The large pixels size and larger 4x4 bin size at 9.26 um will work well with my Edge 9.25 for color and 2x2 for luminance. This puts the pixel scale with good sampling on my average 2-4" seeing here in NE Kansas. 

The more important advance is the 2.3 um pixel size at 1x1 binning. This takes my rasa images from under sampled to ideal sampling while improving the resolution by a factor of 2. This is great, because of the light power gathering of the 8 inch F2 scope. 

Finally, I can use the smaller pixel size with my rokinon 135 and some day a wide field refractor to get better sampled and more resolution images.
