Description

The Jellyfish Nebula (IC443) and the small and faint reflection nebula IC444.

Kind of a comedy of errors on my part...I have to laugh about it in hindsight 😂.  Not a lot of clear skies lately so they seem precious not to waste.  First night, I got good Ha and Oiii subs but strangly almost no signal for Sii (a few faint stars).  Next day, I took apart the filter wheel, EFW, a bit dusty but all seemed good.  That night I recalibrated the EFW, good Ha and Oiii but almost no Sii signal. I really wanted to do SHO not HOO, so next day took it all apart again, reversed the Sii filter (even though that should not have mattered), but again same issue that night.  Then it dawned on me.  I  had left the Optolong HaOiii LeXtreme dual band filter in the WO reducer (2" that screws in) 🤪😵‍💫😂   Took it out and so night three I was finally able to get the Sii.  Therefore, for the Ha and Oiii data in this image the photons first go through the LeXtreme then through the Astrodon Ha 5nm and Oiii 3nm filters.  Oh well, now cloudy again, but I may revisit again.

I had much fun with processing the SHO color and ended up keeping 30% green.  I'm starting to like green in SHO now.

Hey Uwe, I first combined the SHO in pixmath.  Then I tried StarXterminator on the Ha master to remove the stars then gave it just a tad of Topaz noise reduction of 2 and 2 of sharpening which I used as luminance.  Saved much time compared to doing decon and various noise reduction methods I've come to use on my lum.

PS - I had fun troubleshooting for the 2 days as I knew it had to be something and figured it must user error.  OH, I really need to go after IC444 with my 9.25Edge.
