Description

It came to my mind that the philosophy of the best planetary images which are taken with special infrared planetary filters in order to reduce the perturbation effect of the atmosphere, and RGB filters to show the visual appearance of the planet, is not entirely correct. Why should we combine the infrared wavelength with visible light? Why the astrophotographers don’t excited about the infrared view of the planets? I decided to take a challenge to reveal the very near infrared colours of Saturn using the combination of the red and other two infrared planetary filters, the IR 685 and the IR 742, respectively. I managed to shift the spectral range of the coloured image with 0,4 microns (620-1150 nm) toward infrared. A totally new sight of the planet, a whole new coloured world appeared, what was a small discovery for me, with which I could push a little the limits of amateur astrophotography.
