Description

After a seemingly endless wait for my new SkyWatcher Esprit 100-ED APO Triplet and an unsuccessful setup with the Explore Scientific 3" 0.7x reducer, it was time for a first light with the final setup in mid-November.

Part of the final setup is the great Riccardi 0.75x APO reducer, which is firmly screwed into the focuser. Then, I adapt the refractor with exactly 78.5 mm working distance with my ASI ZWO 2600MC Pro. For the first tests I didn't go out of Berlin, but used the small garden in front of our house. To get usable results despite my Bortle 7 location, the Optolong L-eXtreme Dual Band Filter was used. In summary I took 45 min of M42, which led to quite useful results due to the high speed of F/4,12. The stars are almost point-like at the edges. What excited me nearly most is the fact that the stars of the trapeze did not burn out despite the 180s exposure time. Here, the high full well capacity of the ASI does a great job! I'm definitely looking forward to the first longer astro session with my new baby .

I hope you like it.
