Description

I've been thinking about getting rid of my RC8 because it's generally problematic. After nabbing this photo, I think I'll keep it and upgrade the focuser. It really is capable of taking nice photographs. I've opted to not use a flattener. When well-collimated, I get decent stars to the corners with my 2600MM (APS-C). The biggest issue I've found is focuser sag. Star shape/collimation changes slightly with altitude. At zenith, stars are perfectly round, and the field is quite flat. This photo shows some slightly-misshapen stars, presumably caused by sag. We'll see if a solid focuser solves the problem...
