Description

This image was acquired April 11th 2023 on my driveway. 784 frames 10secs each for a total integration of 2hr 10mins. Stacked in Siril, processed in Pixinsight and finished in Photoshop. Just a beautiful edge on spiral in the constellation Coma Berenices. Distance to the galaxy per Sky Safari app on my iPhone is 39 million light years away. Was pretty amazed when I started processing the image that the smudge of light in the frame was actually another galaxy, I remember thinking it was just something that hadn't been calibrated out during stacking. There are also various IC objects in the frame but they must have been too faint or there wasn't enough integration time to bring them out. The image solver that Siril uses to do the photometric color calibraiton did show them on the screen, but I was unable to process the image enough to draw them out. Telescope used was my 12" Meade SCT LX200 fork mount, camera was my unmoded Canon 60D shooting at ISO1000.
