Description

My thanks to @Tom Gray for his post in which he describes how he was running low on computer memory and rather than acquire a solar image by lucky capture using videos, he took a series of images and hand selected the best of the lot (manual lucky capture?) to put together a very nice full disk image of the sun (https://www.astrobin.com/c9tu1u/?q=tom%20gray).  I found myself in the same boat and followed his lead.  I took several 30-frame sets of single images and, by hand, pulled out the best ones.  I was battling poor seeing, high clouds and wind, so the picks of the litter turned out to be only 25 frames.  I then hand stacked them and applied a false coloring (they were mono to start) to get the image herewith of sunspot 3262. The position of the sunspot when imaged is shown below courtesy of spaceweather.com.  I managed to capture a fair amount of detail in the sunspot considering the conditions, so all in all, not a bad lexperiment.
