I have not captured this target since I switched to a a 2600 camera. I stacked the HSO images in APP, but did everything else in PI. I did my work flow on each HSO image first which included: dynamic crop, DBE, Color calibration, BluxX, StarX, NoiseX, and Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch. I then used Pixel math to do a simple HSO and SHO combination. For comparison sake I did compare the images combined in APP vs. combining in PI and I was shocked with the difference and how much more vibrant the colors were in PI. I did not do a lot of adjusting in the colors, these are pretty much how PI combined them and while they are false colors, I thought they came out aesthetically pleasing. Let me know what you think.

IC1396 is a very large emission nebula that filled up my FOV and is estimated to be 3,000 light years away and has several areas of interest. The nebula is mostly a concenrtation of interestellar gas and dust, but it includes some dark nebula ares (vdB 142). The Elephant Trunk section of this nebula is a star forming region and contains several young stars less than 100,000 year old (just babies).

Description: I reworked this in PI using the 3 NB tutorial's that PI sent out. I thought I really liked it better until I compare some of the detail with my other two images. The dark nebula does not look as crisp, but overall I think I like the less bright color. The first image, always looked a little over cooked to me.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
