Description

NGC 5128, known as Centaurus A or the Hamburger Galaxy is an enigmatic behemoth, a radio galaxy unlike any other a mere 12 million light-years away. Centaurus A unfolds in a tapestry of dust and light, a luminous central bulge, shrouded in ethereal dust lanes, hints at the galaxy's turbulent past. Towering gas filaments, sculpted by powerful jets (which I have resolved better this time with more integration and delicate stretching of the Ha channel using GHS to not blow out the core at the same time) emanate from a supermassive black hole at its heart. These jets, invisible to the naked eye, stretch millions of light-years across the cosmos, a testament to the galaxy's immense energy.
