Description

I am pleased to be able to present this image, as I have only ever photographed this as a relative wide field, so using the 5 inch refractor gave a very different 'feel' to things and a close-up. I am also pleased as I have managed to bring forth the 'pelican', and it does actually look like its namesake, compared to the other 'named' objects out there! This image took a bit of fiddling and the massive stretch I had to use for the OIII data was unbelievable, bearing in mind I could  see no OIII in any of the subs and not a lot with the 69 sub stack! The Has was 94 subs with all subs at 3 minutes each. I hope tomorrow, the sky will be clear again, and I will obtain the SII data - it would be great to do a Hubble palette of this. The imaging time was thus 8 hours and 9 minutes. I am also particularly pleased because, as I was only telling one of our friends the other day, I will not have any astronomical darkness until 21st July - and even then I will be graced only with a massive 10 minutes of it!! I will be waiting until the end of August before I get anything really useable. So, with the lack of relative darkness in mind as well, I am happy with what I got, along with pulling out some detail on the sought after Herbig Haro objects. Take care everyone...
