Description

This image was captured over two nights in April 2023 with an ASI2600mm Pro through a Celestron 8" EdgeHD on an EQ6-R Pro with APT.

The image comprises:

L:     129 x 60s
R:       60 x 60s
G:       60 x 60s
B:       60 x 60s

Total integration time was five hours and nine minutes. The image was processed in Pixinsight and tweaked in Photoshop.

M58 was discovered in April 1779 by Charles Messier and is estimated to be at a distance of 68 million light years.

The return of clear night skies to Arizona last month allowed for a minor marathon of galaxy imaging - the data from which I am mostly still processing. This is, I believe, the first time I have imaged M58.
