Description

A bit of celestial acupuncture is causing distress in the Pelican (nebula). Herbig-Haro jet 555 is a stellar outflow, a result of the accretion of materials during star formation. As these materials spiral in through gravitational interaction, jets are released, usually from the fetal star's poles. The process can last for hundreds of thousands of years, but usually ceases millions of years after the star's birth.
