Description

IC 342 The Hidden Galaxy.

IC 342 also known as Caldwell 5 is part of the Maffei Group of galaxies. Intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation of Camelopardalis (The  Giraffe), between 7 and 11 million light years away. Known as the hidden galaxy because it lies behind a thick layer of dust from our own Milky Way, which makes it a difficult target.

Finally a rare clear night and a change of focal length to celebrate! The seeing was poor with high humidity and I had focusing problems as well, so was very surprised by the result. Glad my dew heater system is working well!

Clear skies!

Tony.
