Description

Dumbbell was the first planetary nebula discovered, described by Charles Messier in 1764. It is planetary because its rounded shape can be mistaken for a giant planet, but in reality it is a red giant star in its final stages of life in which they give off that expanding glowing envelope of plasma and ionized gas. They are a true spectacle of the universe.

Dumbble is easy to see with binoculars thanks to its apparent magnitude and precisely this makes it somewhat difficult to capture because its center burns if you try to get all the material around it (loops of the candy). Hence you have shots of different exposure times.
