Description

Messier 13, is a globular cluster about 145 light years in diameter and about 22 thousand light years away seen in the constellation of Hercules. It's estimated that it contains between 300,000 and over a half million stars. It's the largest globular cluster visible from the northern hemisphere, and one of about a hundred globular clusters that orbit the center of the Milky Way. The stars are so densely packed together that they sometimes collide and produce other stars referred to as blue stragglers.
