Description

Last night I tried out my new tiny imaging setup, just an ASI183MM, a camera lens, and a SkyWatcher AZ-GTI mount. This is a super portable setup that will work great for my motorcycle trips.

It appears that the Samyang lens isn't very good for imaging as it has a lot of coma. I am not sure if it has something to do with using normal 6nm narrow band filters, or if the lens registration distance isn't perfect.

The mount itself works excellently for what I was looking for though. Through the night, the mount tracked perfectly and stars were nice and round (in the center of the image) with 2 minute exposures.

The H-Alpha and SII images were focused fine, around 3.5 FWHM, but I didn't focus very well with the OIII images, I should reshoot them.

I can say one thing though, shooting at F2 is a game changer! I got a decent image with very little time involved, in Bortle 6 skies. This REALLY makes me want to invest in a RASA.
