This Astrobin Debut Object. also known as Hen 2-437, is a planetary nebula located 5600 light years away in the constellation of Vulpecula at a declination of +27 degrees. This magnitude 17 PN spans about 20 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual width of 0.5 light year.

This PN is easy to find in the sky, since it is almost exactly 1 degree south of the beautiful double star Albireo.

This object was discovered by Rudolph Minkowski in 1946. 20 years later it was catalogued by Karl Henize. I find it strange that this PN is referred to more often by the Hen 2-437 designation than the Minkowski 1-91 designation.

This is a bright bipolar nebula. It must have strong bipolar flow to create such an unusually long and narrow shape. The HII signal is much stronger than the OIII signal. I calibrated the color of my image against my RGB result. I am not sure why the Hubble image shows it to be blue.
