Description

Partial Solar Eclipse 20221025 - Ha maximum

It doesn’t happen too often you get a chance to witness a solar eclipse, even a partial one. Last year I had ;y first chance at trying to capture this, but I had lacked the ‘solar/planetary’ experience

This year I’ve tried to come prepared. I had one camera with a 2x400mm zoom tracking the sun, making a time-lapse, also capturing the passing clouds (see FB/IG posts). With a second camera I was making single shots with a 600mm lens, giving some decent shots in between the clouds

But, mainly, I also wanted to capture some of the images through my new/second hand solar telescope … in Ha. This is the image I captured at partial ‘maximum’, a mosaic of 2 panels

TechnoSky102/1100, reduced to f22, ERF, ASI 174MM, EQ6R-Pro, DayStar Quark Combo
2 panels 2ms Gain190 33s 200 frames stacked

Although the partial eclipse lasted 2 hours, it seems to have run by in the blink of an eye, dividing my time across the several cameras that were shooting away. Striving for perfection, means you always feel something could’ve been better, I know some moments I’ve ‘missed’ the shot during these 2 hours … I’m still trawling through all the data I’ve captured … but seeing that most of it succeeded … I’m lost for words

Clear Skies everybody! 🤩✨🔭
