Description

12 hours on the Blue Horsehead Nebula, a faint but beautiful reflection nebula in Scorpius.
This was shot 2 years ago in Death Valley for 3 nights,  but I was never happy with the result. I decided to reprocess the data with better techniques and am now pleased with the image.

IC 4601.jpg

IC 4601, which you can see on our full image, is another blue reflection nebula that is illuminated by two binary blue giant stars. I love this specific section of the Blue Horsehead.

Packing up the scope before the sun rises in Death Valley national park. I slept in the trunk of my car while imaging the target.
