Description

Just one hour on The Flaming Star Nebula IC 405 (also taken from my back garden last Friday) is an emission and reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga north of the celestial equator, surrounding the bluish, irregular variable star AE Aurigae.  The nebula lies about 1,500 light-years away.  It is believed that the proper motion of the central star can be traced back to the Orion's Belt area. The nebula is about 5 light-years across.  Although this is a OSC image, I have separated the Ha and Oiii channels in Siril as this target is often seen shining deep red primarily in the Hydrogen Alpha wavelength. Many thanks again to Michal Naczynski for his patience in helping me dig deep into previously unfathomable "pixel math" in Siril
