Description

The large irregular galaxy in this galaxy-field in Leo is NGC 3239, aka Arp 263 in the Catalogue of Peculiar Galaxies. It is about 40,000 light-years across, and 25 million light-years away from us. It is a mix of young blue star clusters and star forming regions and is probably the result of a galaxy merger. I assume the other galaxies seen here are quite a bit further away.

The data was collected during two short nights with the 14" Meade and Sony A7s at ISO3200. From tonight astro darkness is gone up here, and will not return until late August.
