Description

About 20 minute drive west of Gila Bend, south of the Gila River in Arizona, is an ancient indigenous peoples site. Etched into a hill of boulders and rock faces are hundreds of petroglyphs.

It is a 2.5 hour drive from Tucson. The drive was necessary to escape the monsoon clouds forming over southeastern Arizona every afternoon along with the terrible light dome created by the Phoenix metropolis.

The site was dark, and the one small band of thin clouds barely obscured the view of the comet after sunset. The clouds dissipated and light breeze made the 90 plus temperatures bearable. Our Milk Way was behind us, as we photographed the comet.

Thanks for looking.
