Description

I noticed in the image data for the Jupiter image I just posted for 10-29-2021 that two of the Galilean moons were captured fairly well and in many frames the disks were visible, although in others they were distorted by atmospherics.  What surprised me is that in the first images, only Io was visible.  But starting at about 18:30 MDT, Ganymede appeared on the other side of the planet,  The sun's rays were coming from the right, so I wondered if Ganymede had emerged from Jupiter's shadow.  So I checked using Stellarium and, sure enough, Ganymede emerges right at this time.  To see all of this happening, I prepared a GIF animation from the individual images compiled from the 41 15-s videos I took.  The animation shows Jupiter rotating as the moons display their orbital motion.

The equipment and other pertinent data for the video images are available in the final image of Jupiter I posted for this observation run.
