Description

I've wanted to to try this target for a while, and finally got the opportunity while at the Experience Learning facility on Spruce Knob in WV.

M45 is the closest of the Messier objects to Earth, only ~444 LY distant. This arrangement of stars has been obvious in the sky since antiquity, and Wikipedia has a nice writeup about the its importance through history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleiades. There is so much to read about this historic object that I encourage you to dive into this article.
