Description

While collecting luminance data using my ASI294MM for my next image project of M104, the Sombrero Galaxy, I also accidently captured Asteroid 192 Nausikaa, a large main-belt S-type asteroid. It was discovered by Johann Palisa on February 17, 1879. It is around 86 km and presently has a magnitude of 11.8. The dashed line in the upper left corner is the track of the asteroid after the images were stacked in ASTAP. Other than cropping, and the annotation, this is an unprocessed image after stacking in ASTAP.

Interestingly, but not surprisingly, when I restacked the images in Pixinsight, I noticed that the high rejection image of the Pixinsight Image Integration process included removing the asteroid track, as well as, a satellite track from the final stacked image.
