Description

NGC7000 or the North America Nebula is a large emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus. Emission nebulae shine because the gases that they consist of are stimulated by the high energy radiation of a very hot star. The star that makes NGC 7000 shine is not visible in this section of the nebula and also very much dimmed by a very dense dust cloud.
The section of the North America Nebula in this mage is commonly called the "Great Wall". I took the image from my city balcony in Munich, Germany over the course of four nights with shooting roughly twice the amount of exposures in the H-alpha band as in the O-III band in June, mostly due to the moon being present in the sky for parts of the nights. In October I added almost 6h of S-II exposures.
The processing presented here is a mix of a "classic" SHO palette with a smaller sprinkling of an image processed with the Foraxx palette.
