Description

This image should be titled "an exercise in frustration".  This is my first narrowband image with my new gear.  Over 4 nights of imaging I managed to capture only 12 hours of data because of clouds and horrible transparency due to humidity and smoke.  I planned to add a 5th night of data but I found that a mosfet on my HEQ5 had blown somehow, making the mount unusable.  Since it is not clear how long the repair will take I decided to go ahead and process what I had.   After sifting through the data I could really only use about 5 hours of it and what I kept was still questionable.  Regardless of all of that I'm still fairly happy with the result.  If this is what my rig can accomplish in 4 hours looking through smoke and haze I can't wait to see what some proper skies and integration will do.

I've got a little bit more tuning to do with the flattener spacing but I think I should be able to dial it in once I have my mount back.

Fortunately I still have a small AZ-GTi mount on an EQ wedge I can use with my smaller scopes.  Looks like I'll have to do some widefield imaging for the time being.
