Description

I love the Moon when imaged in the daytime. It is so beautiful being suffused in the blue of the sky.

I had some fun reworking the data set from my Blue Moon image of 14th May 2016. I had a series of 4 captures with my DSLR through the C11. Previously I processed one of them and then oversharpened the image. I knew the data set was good but that always bothered me as I came to learn more about planetary and lunar image processing. This time I integrated all 4 videos and was careful to avoid over sharpening. I hope you agree that it is better this time around.

This is the reworked version in a landscape format. It is relatively straightforward to reorient a planet or the Moon against the black of space, since one can easily just copy and fill the black. When the blue of the sky is present that is a much more difficult task as it is easy to end up with gradients and banding. I developed a method within Photoshop to produce a smooth background.

I also include the original (version B). I hope you see what I mean by oversharpened.
