Description

This image was taken on the first clear night in well over a month, it was really too cold to do any imaging but I wanted to at least try something.

It was -14 (celcius) and boy, do that temperature drain battery-life. After about 45 minutes I had ran out of battery on... well... everything. Tracker, laser (that took only a minute), lens-warmer, intervalometer and camera(!). The camera died juuuust as I finished the last 3m foreground shot.

I put the camera in the car, drove the 5-7 minutes back home, left the camera outside for about 30 minutes then shot darks at home using my second battery.

I really wanted to try to catch some of the red nebulosity surrounding Orion, but the light pollution was simply too much, so I am going to try later once I receive a filter I've ordered (Optolong L-Pro).
