Description

I took this image of the April 20, 2023 total solar eclipse from the deck of the cruise ship P&O Pacific Explorer off the coast of Western Australia, near Exmouth.  It is a single 1/500th second exposure taken during the final seconds of totality.  The bright points of light along the top edge of the sun are known as "Bailey's Beads", which are caused by the sun peaking through canyons on the lunar surface.

Details: Taken with an astro-modified Canon EOS R camera through a 100-400 mm zoom lens set at 400 mm.  Shot at f/8, ISO 100.
