Description

This mosaic aims to capture all the vivid colours of the Scorpius constellation, from the Sharpless Nebulas (SH2-7 and SH2-1) on the left over to the galactic plane on the right. Obviously you cannot miss the famous Blue Horsehead and Rho Ophiuchi cloud complex, but I wanted to give a bit wider context on these famous targets.

I shot this in one night from my suburban backyard with 24 hours of exposures (captured on my widefeild setup with multiple Canon 6Ds and Samyang 135/2). Although I blended in 3 hours of dark sky exposures I took of Rho Ophiuci the previous month with a longer focal length.

Overall I think its a solid effort given the light pollution levels of my backyard, but as ever, I now have the urge to shot it again from dark skies in the future
