Description

The red filaments surrounding the Cocoon Nebula is glowing hydrogen-alpha that is very faint but I have incorporated over 7 hours of it to show that it is all around.
I found this object a challenge to process. I would have liked to have brought out more of the surrounding dust but the masked stretch I tried using did nasty things to the stars, so I didn't use it. And there are a LOT of stars in this field . My goal here was to incorporate the surrounding H-alpha which was blended into the luminance and the red channel. Just to let you all know, the telescope is a dual configuration system. This time it was at f/4.9 (1470mm focal length) to cover the entire big 16803 chip at 1.4 degree field of view.
