Description

Another look at my favourite GC, M13 in Hercules. Tried to go a bit deeper with this one, by shooting 5m L subs and 3m RGB subs instead of my usual 120s for all LRGB. The sky wasn't very cooperative for the RGB data, so not as many subs as I'd intended, but the forecast isn't great and Moon will soon be starting to further brighten what is already now only astro twilight for my 52N location.

Title: tweaked colour balance

Title: Used PI(SPCC) for star colour calibration

Description: I asked a friend to run my stacked RGB data through Pi primarily to use its star colour calibration tool SPCC. The resulting star colours are far better than i could obtain ust guessing at different WB in ImagesPlus. He sent me a linear TIFF which I processed then combined with my separately process Lum data. This certain;y looks much more like the colours I'm seeing others produce of this stunning target.

Description: Pushed the luminance stretch more in order to show more of the outer regions of the cluster.

Title: Trying to control the horrible gradients

Description: Took the RGB into Affinity Photo to run GradX before back into IP for the rest of the processing and combination with Lum data.

Title: GradX on both L and RGB

Description: Gradients on the L data were still impacting the LRGB image so decided to run the L through GradX too. Actually ran 4 iterations at Fine+Low, to gradually flatten the gradients. Seems to have improved the image allowing more of the outer halo to be revealed with a smoother transition to the background sky.
