Description

I only posted this as an example of what can be done with very little exposure time and a whole lot of dew! I was travelling and didn't have my dew heater with me, and after two hours of imaging there was heavy dew buildup on the scope's objective lens. I had to throw away the 2nd half of the subs, which helped, but did not completely eliminate the effect of the dew on the final image. Despite all that, I'm pleasantly surprised at how this turned out.

The Witch Head Nebula is a very faint reflection nebula in Orion (abs. magnitude 13). It's illuminated by the supergiant star Rigel (outside the view of this image). In this image, some of the light from Rigel can be seen streaming toward the Witch's nose (upper right).

Clear skies!
