Description

Almost 14 years ago, Comet 17/P Holmes graced our skies for over 2 months, easily visible to the unaided eye in the neighborhood of Perseus. As it rounded the Sun, it suddenly flared, as an enormous amount of ice was sublimated from the surface. This is a vintage SBIG ST-8e image through an 80mm refractor and Custom Scientific color filters.
